Replenology: Arbor Life’s Branded ALRV5XR

A few months ago, I heard about a relatively new company named Replenology. It is headquartered in Canada, and produces a natural hair growth product with 21 key hair growth pathway targets.

This week, someone on our chat mentioned Arbor Life Labs and its ALRV5XR hair growth product.

Upon further research, I discovered that Replenology® is Arbor Life Labs’ branded version of its ALRV5XR hair regeneration product.

Replenology: 21 Hair Growth Pathways

I am very skeptical about natural and botanical products for hair growth being able to reverse baldness. However, countless studies have proven that natural products are able to make existing hair thicker and stronger. In some cases, even reverse recent hair loss (at least temporarily).

In recent years, things such as propolis, sandalwood and seaweed have all been in the news for their hair growth properties. The most famous natural product to benefit scalp hair is saw palmetto via its modest dihydrotestosterone (DHT) blocking activity.

While their Instagram is not updated regularly, I found Replenology’s website content to be of high quality. In particular, their amazing “21 to Grow” brochure (the product targets 21 factors or pathways that contribute to hair loss). The active natural ingredients (expand below image) target different molecular pathways that promote hair growth. Although I am still skeptical, kudos to this company for making such a great effort. Make sure to also read my past post on natural DHT blockers for hair growth.

Over 200 Ingredients

The number of ingredients in Replenology’s product portfolio (capsule supplement, follicle serum, shampoo and conditioner) easily exceeds 200. The below screenshot only lists the active ingredients. See a more complete list here.

Hair Follicle Health

The Replenology formulation targets seven key area of hair follicle health:

  1. Growth factors.
  2. Circulation.
  3. Anti-androgens.
  4. Follicle protection.
  5. Hair stem cell stimulation.
  6. Immune regulation.
  7. Nutrition.

Among the natural ingredients include ones that reduce DHT; inhibit PGD2; inhibit the COX enzyme; inhibit the interferon (IFN) class of cytokine proteins; increase good (when it comes to hair growth) interleukins (IL-10) and decrease bad ones (IL-1 and IL-6); and block the negative effects of TNF-α and TGF-ß on hair cells;.

The formulation also further activates the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway to increase cell proliferation; influences the SHH (Sonic Hedgehog) pathway and induces the anagen (growth phase) of resting hair follicles; inhibits the bone morphogenic protein (BMP-4); stimulates the noggin protein; activates mTORC1 (target of rapamycin); activates FGF-7; inhibits FGF-18; activates hepatocyte growth factor (HGF); activates insulin-like growth factors (in particular, IGF-1); activates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

It is hard for me to believe that one oral supplement (even if combined with topical shampoo, conditioner and serum) can do all the above. Especially beyond a modest efficacy level. At present, you cannot find Replenology products on Amazon, so no reviews and ratings on that site.

In any event, I am glad that someone has finally tried to come up with an all-encompassing hair loss product. Something that I implied in my 2019 post on “creating the ultimate hair loss drug cocktail“.

ALRV5XR from Arbor Life Labs

Arbor Life Labs completed separate safety and efficacy clinical trials for male and female androgenetic alopecia patients in 2020. Both trials entailed 46 subjects each. The treatment entailed a dietary oral supplement of ALRV5XR, a hair follicle serum, a shampoo and a conditioner.

The company’s current pipeline indicates that ALRV5XR trials are complete. This is probably because you do not need three trials for natural products.

The Phase 1 trial results were discussed (separately, for men and women) in the prestigious Lancet journal in 2021. However, note that the lead author Mr. Peter Feldman is also the co-founder and CEO of Arbor Life as well as CEO of Replenology.

  • September 11, 2021: Safety and efficacy of ALRV5XR in men with androgenetic alopecia: A randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Also in ScienceDirect in October 2021.
  • June 23, 2021: Safety and efficacy of ALRV5XR in women with androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium: A randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial. See the PR News article from October 19, 2021 (included a before and after photo).

The findings indicate that ALRV5XR caused new terminal hair growth in both men and women. Arbor Life’s patent for ALRV5XR is pending, and is titled as:

“Botanicals as Wnt/β-Catenin Activators, Molecular Pathway Regulators, Tissue Regenerators and Health Biomarker Regulators.”

  1. I’m always skeptical of natural products as well. When it’s natural, it doesn’t have as much oversight and doesn’t need, any or as many, approvals. There are tons of natural products that turn out to be fake. Nobody is testing to make sure what what they say is in it is actually in it, are they? Less scrutiny, at the very least.

Anything is worth trying to me, but I try with low expectations. The website does look good, which is a positive indicator.

  2. I thought happy head was really helping until I got a haircut today. I could tell the woman was unsure what to do…with what little hair I have. Time to buzz it, I think. Sad. About to be 2022 and we can’t cure this. The guy ahead of me was at least ten years older and had insanely thick hair. I wonder if he realizes how lucky he is.

  3. I don’t wear a hair system but I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on them searching Instagram and google. If you want a super realistic ones you have to go to Hollywood wig makers. Wig makers that are making wigs for television and movies that’s the only way you’ll probably get a legit looking one. Most hair system businesses sell crap wigs with shitty hairlines and dramatic huge density that looks unrealistic in my opinion.

  4. James they will never cure this. I honestly think they would have done it by now if they really wanted to. Either way I’m fortunate that we have the big 3. Back in the 80s and before you had no shot at even slowing it down. Msybe if we are lucky some random treatment will come out that will over power the big 3 and at least give us really good regrowth and throw in an fue we could have good coverage. As for the older guy…I hear ya. I saw some dude in his 50s with a thick ass nw0. Dude never felt the stress of mpb like us. I still remember that dreaded summer day I saw tons of hair over my hands in the shower…19 yrs old….one positive is that mpb definitely made me 100000x stronger and toughened me for many other issues that came my way. I have friends now in their late 30s freaking out about receding hairline and crying about it , they prob would have jumped off a bridge if it happened to them at 19. Keep your chin up buddy ;)

    1. i have a similar experience MJONES as You, but come on, bald head is not cancer, i think Stemson will cure us but not in 5 years, imo it will take at least 10 years, probably 15
Did anyone from this forum signed up for cryonics?

    2. Thanks, Mjones. Really appreciate it. Good point about it making us tougher for other things. I’m just having a moment…and that moment always occurs when I’m getting a haircut lol. That’s when it hits me. I try to remind myself, there are worse things.

  5. Hi admin,

Do you think this product might be able to stop hair loss without side effects as a monotherapy and potentially act as a substitude for finasteride?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. I have serious doubts that Replenology is as good as Finasteride. However, I am very impressed with their effort. No-one has ever tried so many natural ingredients in one pill and serum. Note that natural ingredients can also cause side effects, but this one seems safe as far as I can tell.

If they conduct larger clinical trials, I would get more interested.

      1. Why don’t you ask Replenology if they will let YOU try it and report on it? Yea, I know you are not a study of any kind but may give relevance to their successful results??

      2. Agree. I’ve read their publication, very thorough and promising. Fin is a medication, can be very effective but like Min, comes with a slew of side effects. I think Fin and Min produce the fastest results, but they are medications. I think the oral supplement offers a unique solution as it acts almost like a multivitamin for hair loss specifically. I’d love to see a larger study.

Could possibly have an application as hair loss prevention.

  6. @jan more like 15 to 20 years away and there’s still a big chance it won’t work in human trials so we’re basically screwed.

      1. @jan Hi, there’s a good Chance hair cloning will not work on human skin because mice trials don’t always translate well in human trials. Plus if stemsons therapeutic did come out with hair cloning it won’t happen until 2033 at the earliest I’ll be 48 years by then. Jan I have 2 questions for you how old are you and are you going to wait until the 2030s to see if this works and how Bald are you? I’m 36 and a norwood 2 but it destroys my confidence. Also did you see tissuse finally gave up and closed up operations. So there’s really nothing Left for us replicel RCH-01 isn’t better then finasteride and it’s not permanent and you have to fly to Japan every year so we’re royally screwed.

That sucks big time big time and Dr tsuji just lied about everything getting our hopes up for nothing that’s some B.S this whole hair loss industry is a joke. I just saw a report on ABC news on the war on cancer that president Nixon signed into law in 1971. So 50 years later they asked the leading Dr who is working on this government funded program and the Dr said after 50 years, she’s come to the conclusion that cancer will never be cured. Just early and better treatments is the best way to fight cancer. So there you go Jan.

        1. Marc i am balding in typical way just like women. We are in similar age, and i can wait 20 years for cure. It is only hair come on.

    1. Hi admin, do you have any news from Hairclone?

They said they would launch the treatment in early 2022 in the UK, do you think they are still on track?

  7. Tissuse just ended there hair cloning business! So there’s nothing left really. Rch-01 is not going to give you a full head of hair, and neither is biosplice. Stemson Therapeutics is not going to come out until 2033 if it’s even possible. So we’re screwed.

    1. @woofy this is what we came down to, wearing a WIG ! Are you serious in the year 2022 ! So basically hair is not going to happen ! WIGS !

  8. A lot of the ingredients in the Replenology supplement are also in the Help Hair protein shake
    https://helphair.com/mocha-frappe-help-hair-shake-plus-30-servings-2-1-lbs-recommended-by-worldwide-hair-clinics/

Help Hair is interesting because you can select a “Referring Doctor” before adding items to your cart.

Both Replenology and Help Hair contain Fo-ti Root (Ho Shou Wu), Niacin, Folate, vitamin B12, biotin, pantothenic acid, iodine, zinc, and manganese.

Help Hair contains Kudzo Root, Pumpkin Seed, Honeysuckle Flower, Chrysanthemum Flower, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, chloride, chlorophyll, and PABA.

Help Hair is missing vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, copper, and selenium, and is missing a lot of the herbal extracts.

  9. Admin, Replenology looks to do something, could it be looked into with more detail? Is this selling well in the US/Canada, if so we should be seeing more customers experiencing the results of medium term use by now? The Lancet link showing efficacy of 16% after 24 weeks looks very tempting to what I’m seeing with fin, which isn’t very much, if anything at all. Ok I get it, without fin my hair would be falling out quicker, problem is the time is approaching when there’s no hair left to fall out slower anyway.

    1. have you considered taking this replenology WITH the fin? is that possible? from what i understand replenology is natural and should be safe to take along side the fin?

could be worth asking your doc or looking into. i’d be curious to know if that helps.
