Elon Musk’s Hair Transplant Update in 2021

Update: December 2021

A New Haircut for Elon Musk

Elon Musk (the world’s richest man, with a current net worth of $300 billion) and his hair surprise us yet again. This week, he made a much talked about appearance with a new haircut. It looks like Mr. Musk’s hair transplant has held up pretty well for all these years. Or perhaps he had more than one hair restoration procedure as is common?

The rear view in the above photo does not seem to indicate any major strip scar from a FUT hair transplant. Perhaps he got an FUE? Edit: A reader “Alex” pointed out two photos of Elon Musk showing what looks like a strip scar. In fact, one of the photos is from the new ones above, but closer up magnification.

It is also a possibility that Elon has a high-quality hairpiece. However, most doctors and surgeons seem to think that he definitely got a hair transplant procedure.

2017 Update: Almost two years after I wrote this post, Elon seemed to credit the “crown chakra” as helping him regrow his hair. Recent photos of him in 2018 suggest that Mr. Musk’s fuller hairline is still going strong. If you have enough money, you can reverse androgenetic alopecia (at least for a decade or two).

Elon Musk Hair Transplant Before and After
Elon Musk’s Hair Transplant Before and After.

Elon Musk had a phenomenal 2015 and has been in the news virtually every week this year. His motor vehicle (Tesla) and solar power (SolarCity) companies continue to grow despite some turbulence. This week marked a new zenith to Mr. Musk’s fame after the successful SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launching and booster landing.

Several weeks ago, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel (a fellow Paypal co-founders) and a number of other IT sector luminaries created a non-profit artificial intelligence (AI) research organization called OpenAI. It aims to develop AI while protecting mankind from rogue unfriendly AI led annihilation. While reading about that story, I came across a past photo from 2000 of Elon Musk’s hair (link to WSJ article with photo here).

Past Thinning Hair and Balding

Elon Musk Hair Loss

Recently, I was quite shocked to see Elon Musk’s past thinning and receding hairline. I always see Mr. Musk with a full head of hair in all his recent photos.

In 2000 he was just 29 years old, which means that he probably started balding in his mid-20s or perhaps even earlier. You can see close-up balding images of Mr. Musk in this video from 1999.

The below is what Elon Musk looks like nowadays per a Gawker magazine/CBS before and after hair transplant photo.

I bet that he has had a hair transplant surgery procedure. Perhaps one day someone who interviews him will ask him which surgeon he went to for his hair transplant surgery?

Most likely, he went to a California based surgeon since he lives in the state for most of the year. The results are excellent and prove that as of 2015, hair restoration remains the best option we have to treat male pattern hair loss.

Joe Rogan

In 2018 and 2020, Elon Musk was interviewed twice by Joe Rogan. Those two interviews became the most watched videos ever on Mr. Rogan’s YouTube channel. Unfortunately, there was no discussion on how Elon regained his previously thinning hairline. I hope he divulges more information on this like other celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher.

  1. JAK Inhbitors are going to save all of us in 2016.

Musk may look great now but his HT surgery is very limited and is without long term consequences as JAK inhibitors may not be able to regrow hair through scar tissue.

2016 is OUR Year as Male Pattern Hair Loss will become treatable due to the incredible work of Dr. Christiano.

It took Musk 3 times to get it right on the rocket. I say it again, and again that JAK Inhibitors should be proven to work. They just need to finally do an experiment on it.

    1. if she began testing JAK today on human subjects, it will take 3 to 5 years to complete 3 tests, assuming she gets the correct dosage. I don’t know how you can be so optimistic about seeing this drug on the market in the next 12 months.

Our best bet might be some physician deciding to mix his own JAK and prescribing to patients- as mentioned by Dr. Christiano in her recent interview- but again, no one at this stage knows the dossage and with what to mix it.

Swiss tried JAK and failed. Christopher1 hasn’t seen any restults yet either.

      1. bw – true we do not know if it works or if it did work what dosage and mix. But, if we do find that it does work then if we can get the exact formula a doctor probably would prescribe it for us since the main ingredient is already FDA approved. Thus we could easily get it by the end of 2016, easily. Just need to know if it works first.

    2. Hair transplants only cover a small area therefore you should have plenty of miniaturized hair follicles that will be able to regrow. I just said that for affect about Musk since he is incredibly rich and all of us less affluent than he and cannot afford the best Surgeon.

Also I had hoped that he would fund hair research and solve the problem the way he has solved many of humanity’s problems and instead he helped to fuel in essence a Coal industry in supporting HT (assuming he had an HT). We need a real, natural solution other than surgery.

I hope by the end of 2016 I have JAK Inhibitor lotion that is regrowing my OWN Natural Hair in its natural place and type. That’s my hope. But JAK Inhibitor has to be proven to work first and that is the million month question.

    3. NASA you really need to stop being so freaking deluded.
You’re going to get a heart attack when it turns out that JAK inhibitors don’t work (and boy do I hope I am wrong).

Are you really this emotionally invested into these drugs or are you just putting on a show here?

      1. I saw the pictures of the AA hair loss and they regrew all of their hair. Why not us?

If JAK Inhbitors do not work then it is simply buzz cuts for me and I forget about hair loss as nothing else is going to work in the next 30 years.

    4. lol’d reading this at the end of 2021. i’d say short of some gene modification (which is probably not sooner than 50 years in the future), our best options for hair loss remain to be horrific side effect ridden finasteride and face bloating minoxidil. some variants of these show up every few years but side effect profiles never gets better. to be fair (saying this as a balding man that doesn’t look good even with hair), it’s a cosmetic issue and not the worst thing to be cursed with. also i wish 2021 musk (i know he was the boy genius in 2015) could get a plastic surgery for his personality. his hair isn’t the problem

  2. NASA DUDE …. STOP

CHRISTIANO SAYS JAK MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT WORK FOR AGA AND WILL TAKE 5 YEARS MINIMUM TO REACH MARKET

5 YEARS MINIMUM TO REACH MARKET

    JAK 5 YEARS NOT 2016

    JAK 2021-2025

THATS IF IF IF IF IF IF A COMPANY INVEST NOW

READ THIS AND PLEASE DONT KILL YUORSELF WHEN YOUR WRONG NEXT YEAR

    JESUS MAN

  3. lol ya dude but seriously you all should be emailing huge pharma companies business development staff on linked in or whatever if you want to get the only way the only ball will get rolling..

I dont think nasa is a robot i think he doesn’t speak english as a first language and doesn’t understand JAK is still not even indicated for AA yet let alone AGA which christiano explicitly says in spencer interview will take “3-5 years if a rich company started absolutely now”

she’s not hiding anything.. she’s wearing a wig still and mentions JAK works on AA only 75% of the time.. and their really expensive.. so think about it.. Christiano is not even using JAK inhibitors and they have “taken the science as far as it can go” it’s up to Venture Capital / big pharma from here and it’s more likely than not they are just not even aware about it… these guys aint smart people their rich daddy’s boy’s that blast wu tang and get arrested by FBI *cough cough* Martin Shkreli types ..

not inquisitive enough … don’t believe me ? go ahead and ask any big pharma giant including MERCK or hairloss giant “HEY WHY NOT INVEST IN JAK INHIBITORS?” they won’t even know what the your talking about you’ll be speaking chinese too them

  4. after hellouser i’m psychologically appeased as far as hair loss goes.. with histogen and replicel 2018.. it sucks that it sso far away and atleast I know Histogen already works those pictures are good enough for me..

And as far as mexico I wouldn’t worry about Histogen, it’s autologous harmless and most likely much cheaper in Mexico. Modern Mexico is a hell of a lot more developed than late 90’s Mexico.

For me it’ s going to be 2017 Mexico 2018 Tokyo Done.
That will be my robotic Nasa Mantra lol

    1. egghead – apparently needs glasses if he thinks Histogen works. And he hangs his hopes up on questionable pictures when we know What Has Worked for AA type hair loss (I’ll spare you my usual speech).

English is not my first language? Hmmm, no idea where that came from.

We just need to know if it works and what dosage, time, and mixture.

Histogen is NOT FDA Approved but JAK Inhbitors are already FDA Approved yet you think it will take years to get JAK Inhibitors? Hmmmm. I will probably be using JAK Inhibitors while Histogen is still under trials.

    2. Egghead, I also believe in Histogen and Replicel. I don’t see why people hate those pictures so much. They are not just comb overs. On the one picture in particular that was posted here, that guy didn’t even have enough hair originally to comb over. You could see that the poor guy tried, and the hair was too thin in the original picture.

  5. Egghead – sorry one last thing. JAK Inhibitors will take years? Christopher1 is ALREADY using it trying to regrow his hair right NOW! Although it has not worked for him yet but it is too early as it takes months, 3-5 months.

  6. Touché @nasa_rs Histogen is NOT FDA Approved but JAK Inhbitors are already FDA Approved….Just saying.. . Egghead do don’t want a treament? hahha…maybe no…

  7. Guys I tried searching topics on this blog related to the Hair Science Institute and their claims that the HT they offer do not cause total depletion of donor hair. Let’s say that’s 50% true and that half of the donor hair used for the transplant will grow back. If this is not a scam and their claims are somewhat true, then I would assume that this can really help and provide enough donor hair to treat even a NW5. I know it would be so costly and most of us cannot afford it but I was just wondering if this info is correct. Any insights would be highly appreciated.

    1. HASCI claims that 80% up to 85% regrowth in the donor area is guaranteed due to their special needles which don’t transplant the total hair follicle. They also claim that no visible scar tissue will emerge due to the partial extractions in the donor area.

Both claims are not easy to assess by the online pictures. However, we are able to see that the pictures during and after the procedure are less bloody than those pictures we are used to from other clinics.

As HASCI also transplants hair on (young) burn victims, and corporates with institutions who fund some of these transplantations for burn victims, they show at least some honesty other HT doctors sometimes lack.

However, their procedures are pretty expensive. With multiple procedures to go, you are running fastly out of your dollars.

      1. WHAT THE HELL! So they can essentially get almost unlimited donor hair with minimal scarring?? Isn’t this what Dr. Wesley was doing but their approach is much easier and Wesley contraption looked something like a torture device…

        1. If 80% regrowth of HASCI would be true for the extracted hairs/grafts in the donor area, then you could extract EXACTLY the same hairs/grafts 3 times. Because 80% x 80% x 80% is still > 50% remaining hair density. And 50% density still will give you the look of a full donor area.

And this only counts when during the 3 hairtransplants exactly the same hairs/grafts would be extracted. In practice the HT surgeon will surely use other hairs/grafts from the donor area for consecutive treatments.

This means that a good donor area, will give you at least 3 HASCI transplants. I bet much more sessions are possible. Most important, you will not get any visible scars, so later in life you can shave your head if you want to.

However, the procedures are very lenghty and expensive. At the same time I am nog quite sure about the greatness of the results in the recipient area!

    1. Hey Paul I read the Xing article. Looks promising but it’s done in mice from what I read. So that’s like 10 yrs away if it works on people.

      1. @mjones: I must say that your statement is as pessimistic as it can ever get. 10 years is an exaggeration. I would say 5? Maybe, but I guess in China it wouldn’t have to pass thru all the clinical trials and would be available within a shorter timeline. And hell yeah, I would fly to China if it that guarantees getting my hair back.

    2. http://www.hasci.com/en/
This is their website link. Check it out.
They claim that the procedure is basically hair multiplication unlike the regular HT and that they have patented this invention exclusively to their institute. Don’t know how credible are the claims stated on the website that’s why I have asked for clarifications here. Maybe the admin can help or anybody who knows a person who underwent the procedure.

The above news that you posted however sound much more interesting. Guess it is very early to make any assumptions and I would prefer not believing the news until it is officially confirmed and published although I’ve always believed that the only cure would be something to do with stem cells.

Let us remain optimistic and pray for a miracle in 2016 that may bring joy to millions and millions of hair loss sufferers.

      Amen to that.

      1. Hallucinate I don’t mean to come off pessimistic at all. It just takes 10 yrs for things to pass through trials. Shit it took rogaine foam 8 yrs to get approved. Just being realistic. Plus this only been tested in mice. Shit I hope it comes out tomorrow dude and I can get it done and not worry about this hair loss shit anymore. It’s fking depressing and exhausting!

        1. I could care less if it is approved by some governing body. Like others have said, if it starts getting results, and I see testimonials, I am going. F the trials. lol

    3. The work that is being done with stem cells in all areas of medicine is fascinating. I hope that governments begin funding it heavily.

  8. I’m still afraid of getting any medical procedure done in mexico. Maybe I am just paranoid little vag lol but I won’t get it done their. Hopefully HSC will be offered in Japan or Canada . If sishedo and replicel can actually product real thick cosmetic regrowth and stop further loss then that would be freaking awesome! But I haven’t even see one pic from replicel or sishedo. Samumed could be huge or just another latisse with a bunch of advertising behind it. We shall see in 2016 what pics they show. I am still waiting to see what Follica has up their sleeves. This whole secrecy is annoying yet suspenseful! Hopefully my Greek brother Dr. Cotsarelis will surprise us all with an AWESOME treatment!

  9. hair transplant is shit!!!!
only hope for all of us is something what can wake up dormant follicles, not ht.
for CHRISTMAS only what i want is back my all hair!!!
Dear God help all of US!!!

  10. To be honest, I kind of find this most recent post annoying. I don’t look at having a hair transplant as more acceptable than shaving my head. In fact, I see it as much worse because I would have gone through ultra extravagant, and potentially dangerous means to change something that is really just a matter of vanity. In a way, this post seems like an endorsement for such procedures. Kind of odd. I love this blog, and the author is great, but it is odd to me that he finds transplants acceptable compared with shaving. In the future, I hope he focuses more on TREATMENT. Hair transplant is not a treatment. It is just moving hair around, and leaving you with a giant scar on the back of your head. This should not be condoned. Your hair will continue to recede, and then you will not be able to shave it when you are old. You will look like Krusty the clown and have to gel back your thin, transplanted hairs over your bald regions in your 60s. You will also have a giant strip scar on the back of your head for your effort. I know several guys like this. Poor souls.

    1. Totally agree ddog! HT should be illegal until they can come out with donor regeneration and 100% scar less procedure. Until that happens this procedure is barbaric and looks fking gross pre and post opp.

  11. Doesn’t make sense though, Mjones. If they can ever do donor regeneration, actual regeneration, why would you need a transplant? That would imply that they could creat new follicles. You could just regenerate your actual hair… lol

  12. What makes you think follica has something up their sleeve?! Did I miss something? If you are referring to the hundred patents cotsaerlis has then you are being foolish. He is wise to protect his assets. I love how u guys got so excited about replicell with guys claiming we finally have a cure…then setipiprant…now jak inhibitors. Im guessing the next advertised holy grail will be the tgf-b1 inhibitors?

  13. @Tom…in all respects…stop saying nonsense. We want a better and novel treatment no the next holy grail….There are lots of millions in these patents. Think please….:)

  14. Tom, what do you want? Of course people are going to try to be optimistic. They are going to creep around talking about how everything will suck in the future. If that were the case, they just wouldn’t be on this discussion board. They would have shaved their heads and move on with their lives.

  15. I don’t see it as being passive. It can be viewed as being aggressive. It shows you are not afraid of aging. I think it is a good look for older men in their 40s if they do not have much hair. Having a job in your 40s where you can sport a tan is a good idea, as well. I need to get some jet skiis and own a jet ski rental establishment during my retirement. Sounds like the life.

  16. So what are we doing here? LOL….In conclusion: We want a new AND A BETTER treatment for MPB. We fight for get it.

  17. I am here to stay abreast of what is going on in treatment, and this is kind of like a support group. For me, it is helpful to see others are feeling the struggle.

  18. I expect by the end of 2016 I will be using a hairloss cure and will have 100% of my hair back. And, I am 110% serious about that timeline.

This is going to be our year, gentlemen. Finally.

    1. Im not being sarcastic here NASA..do you really think that and do you believe it will be publicly available or black market?

      1. Not Black Market. Simply go to your doctor and get it for Other Medical Purposes. Then Slap it on your head and smile.

I am being very serious too. By nature I am very Optimistic. If the two guys from the early 1980’s could get all their hair back (as described in the newspaper article it was as thick on top as it was on the side for someone who had MPB) then why not us 30 years later?

Tired of the Doubting Thomases and the Naysayers. It has worked for others and it will work for us.

It will work and I will get my all my hair back at the end of 2016.

          1. Probably around late Summer. Then it is simply waiting for all of those rushing to do it to find out what is the best dose (wait 3-4 months after that) then to the doctor and put the stuff on the scalp, then smile since I will be 100% back.

I expect to start to use it in November, 2016.

  19. I told the Admin of this website 1 year ago that this would be the treatment for hair loss where we would get 100% of our hair back. He really thought it was wishful thinking on my part.

I say that since the Beno guys grew their hair back with the deadly Arthritis Drug in the early 1980’s. Then the old campfire guy who regrew his hair my guess is he was on an arthritis drug too.

But now, even Dr. Christiano has recently said in much stronger language that it could work whereas previously she said it probably would not work.

I am not getting my hopes up just my hair up, growing thicker, on top of my head starting in late 2016.

    1. Why don’t we just find out the dose and exact jak inhibitor were used on those old guts from the 80s and replicate that to grow back our hair. If it worked on those bald guys who had mpb then what’s the wait! Let’s copy that protocol. Anyone know what the old guys used? Or is that hush hush now ? So much bs in this hair loss industry. This is why I have believe in conspiracy theories. If they saw full regrowth with jak inhibitors in the 80s on these old guys why didn’t anyone produce a treatment for mpb with jak? Why was it ignored and instead a half ass treatment like rogaine introduced? Shit doesn’t make sense to me.

      1. Can someone please tell me who this “campfire guy” is and point to an article about him? He is constantly being referenced and I don’t know the full story.

  20. From what I understand, it seems that the growth was attributed at the time to the wounding of the scalp, rather than the medicine. Looking back now, scientists aren’t so sure.

  21. If it wasn’t for those dammn religions (Catholics) suppressing science and medicine in the middle ages or whatever WE’D HAVE A CURE BY NOW!

  22. We must found private scientist and pay him for trials for jak inh.
    Some crazy scientist.
    Believe me.
We can not every day writing about jak inh.

  23. Nasa what doctor are you buying it from? What is the brand name? In 2016. Because Christiano say’s it’s going to take 3-5 years to get to market IF it works.

Christopher1 from what I understand vaguely in memory had a disease where he happen to have it lying around. You don’t. You can’t fake a disease like that. So your going to have to get it from the grey market.

Believe me I would prefer me to be wrong and you taking pictures of your scalp with EggHead sucks a big one -Love Nasa. I just don’t have any logical responses to these presumptions above.

Histogen pictures came straight from a licensed physician those results are good enough for me and hopefully replicel is way better. Christopher1 doesn’t even have pictures and by the way JAK only took 3 weeks for the european guy 2014 and mice not 3 months… so tell me where i’m wrong and where to buy the stuff and I’ll think your a psychic right now I think you got some splainin to do

    1. I am not going to try anything unless there is proof.

Christopher1’s great experiment could be it, or not. Who knows but if someone proves that it works with the topical lotion (much safer than taking it internally via a pill) then I will find a way No Issues There. The world will sell you what you want if you pay for it.

Of course I would simply go to a doctor here first and try it and if they do not give it to me then I would just go down the list.

      The steps are like this:
      1) 100% Proof that JAK Inhbitors will grow hair on male pattern hair loss. Someone like Christopher1 or a valid scientist would be sufficient with Befor and After photos.

      2) Others will quickly replicate the results and I would follow to determine the dosage, mixture, time, and look at the Before and After photos.

      3) I would go to a doctor, and look diligently for one who is willing to help treat hair loss.

      4) Then everything else that would make it happen.

No it will not take years. I think we will know either way by Middle of Summer time for sure. Then it is watching others do the same thing and follow their results.

Then I think it will be in November 2016 I try it. I truly believe November 2016 I get ALL my hair back. Amazing to even think about it. This could be the last year, late 2016 is it.

  24. People talking about combining HT with histogen or replicel, but will it be possible if histogen and replicel both gives some good results, then we can combine histogen and replicel to get more better results and ignore HT totally? Not sure if stupid question :) But currently people surely use fin+minox to get better results, so seems logical. Will love it if we don’t need HT and still get full head hair!!! Also HT isn’t good in long run for sure.

not sure nasa_rs will be right or wrong, time will tell. But really appreciate him for standing by his opinion and his logics looks correct too.

  25. aah boy its fun to read all these comments, dude nasa you are gonna disappoint it this jak thing doesn’t work…i hope we should have atleast something artificial which is close to like 99% undetectable…not stupid toupees…i dont even know why people wear them…they look literally stupid..like women get fake boobies…how nice are they….we should have something like that….

    1. Looking in the mirror at my hair line everyday disappoints a lot more than if I find out JAK Inhbitors do not work. But, they will work, they will. People cannot just grow hair. It took those Beno guys from the 1980’s a JAK Inhibitor (although they did not know it at the time). It worked then and it will work now. Add to it that the JAK Inhibitors grew hair on Auto Immune Hair loss. Now they will work on male pattern hair loss suffers again.

2016 having hair loss will be a Choice. I will regrow my hair in late 2016. But I need to follow the JAK Inhbitors for now to see which one is safest, how well will they work for us, time, and dosage.

I only need to know for Sure if they work. CAN’T THEY DO ONE FREAKIN’ EXPERIMENT NOW FOR THE NEXT 4 MONTHS AND LET US KNOW?!?!

  26. We need to get JAKs on the grey market ASAP. My instincts tell me a cocktail of Ruxolitinib, Tofacitinib, and Benoxaprofen in lotion format would work for all of us.

  27. The sad thing is everything is out of our reach. We don’t realky know what is going on behind close doors at replicel histigen follica etc. They may have jack shit and just like posting success of mouse trials and or success in growing hair in statistical amounts just to get funding for their business. Everything we do in here is pure speculation. IL repeat tvat again. Everything we say in here is pure speculation. My gut speculation is we will see a new treatment that works better than current treatments but it won’t be a cure. HT won’t be obsolete but if you are a nw 3 or lower the new treatments will grow your hair back to a level where you won’t need a transplant and look like you have a full head if hair which would be great. If you a nw 4 or higher this will give you good regrowth but HT will be needed. That is just my guess. As for Jak I still find it weird they wouldn’t test this ok mpb since developing a treatment for aga with jak will score companies billions of dollars compared to treating areata.MPB should have been their first trial and get a treatment out for billions of balding men asap so christiano would be rich. Instead she starts trials for areata and puts mpb trials as a last resort waiting for some biotechnology Pharma to step in and fund it. Doesn’t she own rapunzel? Isn’t that her company for running trials? Very weird in my opinion.

  28. Even if a treatment were to be available at your local pharmacy tomorrow, I still wouldn’t rush out to get it.

All that testing done on Propecia, before it could be approved for the public, and they still weren’t able to pick up that it makes men impotent.

Sure it would be nice to have my hair back, but at the cost of no longer being able to get erect!? Hell no! I will gladly continue shaving my head.

This is why if a proven treatment were released tomorrow, I would still wait another 3-5 years. Just so I can personally guage how it affects people, long term.

Fortunately, there are plenty men out there who just short of killing their first born, they would do anything to get their hair back, and I consider them “guinea pigs” for whatever “treatments” are approved for the public.

  29. If they want to cure mpb they would have already done it by now. They can clone ears, vaginas, grow skin. Face transplants, send people to the moon, robots to mars, restore full hair to people with Areata, etc and much more advanced medicine but yet they can’t grow a follicle in a lab, a hair strand is out of their limit of science lol. Well hopefully we will have a Christmas miracle and 2016 brings us new treatments to market. Anything that can hold on to our hair for the next 10 yrs when hair cloning will be available at our local dermatologist office :)

  30. People ..we must live with balding..get a girlfriend and wait soms years…play it save with a uglier Girls holddown. .replicel stamcell is a very good wat I think. .Just work for nog and dont give up…get the dollars and euros ready by working hard..iff a cure Comes we attack

    1. Yodawasbald we need a cure not clue… Lol… Admin great job and I am hoping something positive comes this year… Following ur posts for one month from India…

  31. Nosyu, please get those intelligent scientists over there working on pattern loss. Explain to them that there is billions to be made!! Or at least try and push things in the right direction like we do here.

    1. Come one man he can’t do that. Researches already know that the y will make millions of dollars but the problem is the world started to care about hair loss 7 tread ago so we can say recently. Now we need to wait

  32. Lol @ Tom. Thats how I feel right now. In a couple years a good maintainence drug will probably come out and ill be a NW6 by then and it won’t work for me anyway. *sigh* looks like only people that JUST started balding will have any hope. Damn…mine hit a little too early. :c

  33. Dear Lord,

On this Christmas day, I ask that 2016 be the year that nasa_rs grows back a full head of hair.

    All is my opinion!

    1. Tofacitinib Lotion – You Have The Perfect Name. I like your enthusiasm plus you are right.

I am going out 110% as you and everyone else knows on one thing and one thing only the JAK Inhibitors. Why JAK Inhibitors are the 100% treatment and as a huge plus they are ALREADY FDA approved (in pill form). They work for AA hairloss I just want proof they work for AGA hairloss.

This is it. After millions of years 2015 was the last Bald Year. 2016 is the Year of Hair. I will be on treatment by November 2016.

      Everyone Merry Christmas.

  34. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7528050

Here is proof that JAK Inhibitors can work on male pattern hairloss:

“The hair growth stimulating effect of CsA is observed not only in normal but also in pathological conditions of hair growth, i.e. in patients with alopecia areata and also in some patients with male-pattern alopecia.”

[we just might need a higher dose]

    1. This is from 1994. 21 years!!

“Mechanisms of hair growth stimulating effects of FK506 and CsA remain to be elucidated.”

Apparently it was abandoned. Well, that explains why we are forever stuck. Good discoveries happen but they don’t go further. Frustrating!!

      1. But… it states that it works, “For Some Patients With Male Alopecia” [male pattern baldness].

First Evidence Ever that JAK Inhbitors (I believe CsA is a JAK Inhbitor) works on Male Pattern Baldness. Wow!!!

It is not perfect news since it says it works on SOME but if it works then it is just a matter of tweaking it to get it to be more effective such as increasing dosage or adding other ingredients.

I’ve been right all along. Still hoping for Nov./2016.

      2. Gee I wonder why they get stuck? Big Pharma knows a real cure will screw them over..hence they go forward with bs latisse treatments that give marginal growth and maintenance so you keep using it.

        1. The cat is out of the bag the only ones who can stop us is ourselves and that is not about to happen.

Hoping someone somewhere on the web tries it and lets us know. Then it will be a flood of all of us trying it.

What I posted earlier SHOWS that it can work (AsC) for male pattern hair loss. JAK Inhibitors should work. We are incredibly close. That is why I say Nov/2016 I begin to get ALL of my hair back. Wow even thinking about it.

        1. Hey nasa, I saw that link on forums and it portends favorably that JAK inhibitors will help at least some people with MPB. Note the sentence “i.e. in patients with alopecia areata and also in some patients with male-pattern alopecia.”

          1. Given that it probably was not thoroughly researched on MPB. The fact that it worked on SOME probably means that that if either a STRONGER does is used or some other factor included in the product that my guess is it will work for about everyone.

It is a HUGE step forward in that we know JAK Inhbitors (if AsC is a JAK Ihibitor) will work for Male Pattern Hairloss. Again probably just jack up the dose and it will work for more people.

            We are so incredibly close.

Again I hope by November/2016 I get ALL my hair back.

          2. Adding, Rux and Tofac are two different drugs and maybe one will work better than the other for male pattern hairloss. But that drug from 21 years ago is the missing link and it proves Male Pattern Hairloss is treatable.

Again – It appears as if male pattern hair loss is NOW treatable with two new drugs already FDA Approved.

            Holy Smoke!!!

    1. Grey hair!!!!! Grey hair?!?!….a cure for grey hair!? Please. Have you heard of this revolutionary product called hair dye? Grey hair…

  35. This Quorum Sensing does not make sense to me.

Although Scalp hair might differ from Eyebrow hair for instance, we hear certain women complain about the fact they have plucked their eyebrows too much in the past, which now ends in total lack of eyebrow hair.

I don’t see why plucking scalp hair would not lead to the same outcome, thus leading to total lack of scalp hair.

  36. I think that the fact that science has not “cured” gray hair and it is a big market for woman, then the theory that hair loss isnt cured because the woman are not interested in general is false-
So both are very difficult problems of bringing life again for thousands of mini organs

  37. Here we have JAK Inhibitors on the Verge of solving male pattern baldness (I can use that word now since I am about to be Freed from it) and yet people are talking about plucking hair to solve hair loss. Amazing. Do people not understand what is going on?

  38. ENOUGH ABOUT JAK! shit tired of hearing about a medication that is put behind areata and might work for mpb but scientist won’t test it for another 5 yrs. Fk it! They don’t want it to be available anytime soon. Let’s focus on other treatments like samumed or hstogen or anything else. Tired of jak already and christiano dick teasing us with this shit! Say that it will work or not already…shiiit!

    1. Bullshit! Nasa is right. Those dudes with MPB in the 80s grew full heads of hair on a JAK. Now Areata is cured by a JAK. This is it! 100% of the conversation should be about JAKs. Christiano is not dick-teasing. She’s in possession of knowledge that is VERY valuable, and she is proceeding with extreme caution. It’s obvious.

    2. mjones – I am 1,000 more tired of it than you are. That is why I am ignoring ALL other hair loss cr@p. The JAK Inhibitors are HERE NOW and they are already FDA Approved. Their is every reason to believe they will work, 100% hair back.

We just need a ONE good scientific experiment with about 10 people by a scientist to determine dosage, time, and any other ingredients to make it better. That is all we need.

I have my deadline Nov/2016 then I start to get my hair back since we will know by then.

  39. Obviusly jak for mpb does not work so easy , otherwise people taking jak would noticed such efect, bald people growing full hair again!! if it does work will be after some modifications who knows? Only the scientists tryng combinations .

  40. If i were investor I prefer hold shares for gray hair cure the market size would be all womans in the world over 35 and all man over 40 in my opinion much bigger than mpb market size

    1. ok Ggg , we know you are insecure about your grey hair, but please get real and realize hair loss is on the rise and already affects billions whilst grey hair canbe continuously dyed once every 2 months.. the people who compare hair loss, to the natural ageing process of hair turning grey seem so immature… havn’t you even heard of a silver fox? especially men.. men look great with grey/silver hair and some nice stubble…. women is another story..

  41. Admin – My guess its good news about JAK Inhibitors. At this point I just can’t take another [news] story in the media about some rat that grew hair thus hair cure in 5 more years since there is not anything that is going to cure hair loss within 20 years except Rux or Tofac.

I want a treatment now in 2016 and the only thing that can do that are the JAK Inhibitors. I really, really hope those drugs work.

  42. Admin

Special request can we set up a q and a with the
Good doctor Christiano as we have many interested people
That would help with her Studies and expedite her work

As she mentions funding is an issue we have here a very captive audience and possible candidates to assist her efforts

  43. the shortest way got our hair back is with regenerative medicine in japan.histogen or replicel. one anda half years away. i also believein fractional laser or electric stimulate

  44. You guys can cheer and root for jak but I will root and promote for Samumed and Follica. Let’s see who wins. So far my players completed phase 2 trials and both claimed in clinical trials that they both can grow new hair follicles. How much who knows but at least it’s working unlike mystery jak that had been tucked away since the 1980s for some stupid reason.

  45. I hope both win as fast as they can we are losing time and hair .but if I have to chose I am with my ones. i am also curious about admins article I haven’t tried seen anything new those days.

  46. It’s quite scary tbh how obsessed Nasa is with Jak inhibitors, I even believe that Tofacitinib Lotion is Nasa but just using a different device or IP address to back up his point. The fact is just because you repeat yourself at least 20 times on each article will not make it true.
I pray it will work, but it won’t be out conventionally for at least 5 years. Sad that the depression caused by hair loss makes people deluded.

    1. Nasa isn’t waiting to buy this in the store. As soon as someone proves that it works, he’s gonna mix his own batch : )

      1. Close.

As soon as I know it works I will wait a few months for others to perfect the dosage. Then, I go to a doctor and get a prescription for it whether it America or elsewhere whatever it takes.

Good luck to us in 2016 but NOT in another 5 years but now, 2016!

    2. It is just me, nasa_rs. No reason for me to pretend otherwise.

I have grown much more desperate, admittedly. However, I have to admit I really do not see a real treatment for 20 years. I am just grasping at straws with JAK Inhibitors as they are the only thing out now that is FDA Approved. Replicel and Histogen are never going to happen in a real way, sorry guys but you guys are grasping at straws with those two.

I can’t explain why bald guys who take JAK Inhibitors are still bald. Otherwise we would have heard differently. There is no hope in our lifetime, none. Do you feel better now?

  47. Small update on the 21st Century Cures Act – It is the no. 1 priority for the Senate HELP committee (the committee that is authoring the bill, based on the one that was passed in congress)

They said they will tackle this issue starting at the beginning of the year. Everyone is pretty much certain this bill will be signed into law by the president AND they are getting back to work on it IMMEDIATELY, as it is their “NO. 1 priority.”

This is very exciting because I’m sure Allergan, Samumed etc are well aware of the bill and its progress (both pay lobbyists in Washington). I think it will greatly effect the speed to which BIM, SM, and SETI are released.

    GET EXCITED!!

    1. This 21st Century Cures Act, what does it exactly imply in terms of future hair loss solutions? Please clarify for the people not living in the States …

      1. Well, the bill aims to give a lot more money to the NIH (for research purposes) and the FDA (to speed up clinical trials by using more info, like Biomarkers). The bill presents the idea that phase 3’s can be skipped by using biomarkers instead, if the drug has already proven safety and efficacy in phases 1 & 2.

Obama has also nominated Dr. Robert Califf, someone who has advocated to speed up clinical trials, because they are too costly and don’t consider other useful information (like biomarkers). Many involved with the FDA, or knowledge of the history of the FDA are calling this a “deregulatory moment” for the FDA.

Considering the progress of Seti (phase 2 and 8 clinical trials), Bim (phase 2b? and many trials under its belt), and SM (just completed a phase 2, and are running an additional short trial that cover biomarkers) there is a lot to be happy about.

We could see new treatments much, much quicker with this new legislation. And, considering that most of them have been through many, many trials, and have passed phase 2, I think there is much reason to be excited about what this could do for all of us.

        1. Thanks for the explanation!
You made it very clear to us.
Especially the use of biomarkers explains how phase 3’s could be shortened or maybe even skipped.

  48. From his posts it sounds as if the Admin must have really good news. We need it. I have no idea what it could be. It can’t be another new “cure” as another cure 5 years away will not offer any hope.

Maybe he has some proof that something actually really works? That is what is running through my mind.

    1. Just a potentially interesting new area of research, but quite possibly 5 years away. Still worth it since any of these 5 year away things can come to fruition faster in Japan, Mexico etc…

      1. The more possible treatments the better.

But you know what I have my hopes on, and I am talking less than 6 months to really know and then it goes on my head a few months after that.

  49. Let’s hope that Congress gets off their fat ass and pass that bill to skip phase 3. Samumed will complete their biomaker trial in Feb 2016 which technically means they can skip phase 3 if this bill passes. Mayne this is why they ran that trial cuz they know this bill will probably pass and they can get this product to market in late 2016:) Histigen can release HSC in the States next year as well since they completed phase 2. Replicel will probably still be circle jerking each other for another 10 yrs…Sishedo could be released here to in 2018. Hopefully samumed can be released late next year to give us another 5 to 10 yrs of hair growth and maintenance until sishedo, christiano, follica or whoever is doing hair regeneration releases a treatment. Technically histogen should have been released in the states this year according to their website a couple years back. Fingers crossed samumed has some really sick amazing regrowth to show us from their trials. If it’s like latisse then I will cry

    1. I’m not American, but do you guys usually pass many relatively important bills during election years?…I usually follow American politics but I have no clue about this. Canadian politics is the most boring (yet still corrupt… ie. in Ontario we spent over $1 BILLION on NOT building like 2 gas plants so our liberal provincial government could win more votes in that area…and surprise, no one went to jail! They even destroyed evidence!) of them all…so I pay little attention to it.

  50. 2016 will be the end of mpb due to jak inhibitors. Everyone on these forums and blogs will forget all about their hair and move on to be depressed about the next thing on the list that makes them feel insecure.

    1. Rr1161 – I could not agree with you more. But is that you Dr. Christiano? Just kidding.

I have all my energy into one basket and one focus only, JAK Inhibitors. They are ALREADY FDA Approved and that saves at least 5 years by itself.

Anyways, the Inhibitors have proven themselves to work and grow 100% hair from people who were bald for decades [yes only the AA type hairloss type] why in the world do I want to think about some rumored 5 year out next “treatment”? It’s here now! I do not get what is wrong with people. It is as if they have been conditioned to think that some perfect cure is the next thing around the corner when the best thing for the next 20 years is staring them right in the face. Yes, the Inhibitors might need something else, maybe strong Sun, not sure but we can solve it.

This is it 2016 JAK Inhibitors give me, and everyone else, their hair back. How does that sound?

    1. Just read that article. It seems like this soccer player WILL use this hip stem cell treatment once he starts losing his hair. As of now he is NOT balding. So this is BS as usual. Now if he was balding a nw 3 and this doctor gave him back his side show Bob hair then this would be very interesting.

    1. Yes, Yoda. I am praying everyday. God will answer but I don’t know when or how.

I can’t get off the subject of JAK inhibitors, though. Guys with male pattern baldness (not Alopecia Areata) were cured in the 80s with a JAK, but they were worried about tumors or something so it got scrapped.

Now, 2 other JAKS cure a different type of baldness? JAKS are the answer. No cells or genes or transplant bullshit. A topical with nearly 100% regrowth. It’s coming – we just need the right JAK with the right dosage and the right delivery system.

All talk of transplants, Histogen, Replicel, and the rest should end now. JAKS are it!

  51. Khourii….You don’t know nothing…The “God”of hair loss research…he has done something for hair loss? Where is the cure? Where is the new treatment? Are you kidding us? Maybe you’re a troll… you must be realistic. A new treatment maybe a cure is coming in a couple of years….

    Bye.

    1. Not God of hair loss research, KING of hair loss research ;) he did not do anything yet but he is working on it. Cristiano did not do anything and the JAK thing was discovered by accident while treating another desease, so she did not do anything as well

  52. I deeply agree with nasa that jak will work to restore hair for mpb. My concern is will christiano ever say it will and will it ever be released. This will wipe out every hair loss treatment and procedure if jak works. I have a feeling they know this works since the 80s. I know you guys hate my conspiracy theories but think about it I make a solid point. The evidence is there showing how they have been putting it off trialing jak for mpb since 80s. That would be fking awesome if it came out next year bit something tells me other players aka nih, big Pharma won’t let it released. They might tweak it where it only works moderately and not full hsir coverage

    1. You’re familiar with Swisstemples, right? He and bunch of testers have tried topical Tof already for quite some time, with zero results..

  53. The only reason why I say this is because I know for a fact the makers of propecia, rogaine, all the snake oil companies, hair supplements companies, tupe companies, hsir transplant doctors are not going to just sit back and allow jak inhibitors to wipe them out of business. It’s sad and depressing knowing this is most likely the case.

    1. If this would/might be the case, then we have to make sure that we, as an ever-growing group of consumers with hair loss, stay updated on every development with these JAK inhibitors, like we are already doing now actually. Keep the discussion and ‘trial-and-error’ going.

Ultimately, if it takes too long for Christiano to reveal significant results or to reveal any results at all for MPB, we have to find a way to bypass the existing field of researchers, as there should be at least one honest (young/new) scientist who wants to solve the JAK inhibitors puzzle.

I wonder where this FGF friend of us has gone, he had a total plan to cure his own MPB. He said he was a scientist, which I believe, based on his immense explanation of his research plan.

I saw some posts of him on another forum, and they were dissing him, which I did not understand because I thought he was one of the most intelligent posters on all different fora.

FGF … if you read this, please consider to write something on this blog from time to time …

    2. Again, Mjones?? man, there isn’t a hair loss big pharma to begin with, who is it? L’Oreal?? they only make shampoos and hair dye.. they are the most interested in a cure so they’d sell much more shampoo, don’t you think?

      1. Well maybe not big Pharma but definitely hsir transplant industry, possibly Merk and the makers of rogaine. It’s just you never see a cure for any cosmetic treatment. Acne, hsir loss, wrinkles, etc. All treatments you have to use daily. Botox needs to be used every 4 months, acne meds must be used daily, and that is probably a bigger scam industry than hair loss. I don’t know julian but I highly believe they figured out the baldness cure a whike ago and for whatever reason they won’t want it released

        1. Accutane is pretty close to a cure for Acne.. The thing about Accutane is that it was a drug designed for cancer. Maybe that is what we will see with JAK and hair loss.

    1. BTW,

I really believe that Christiano might be one of the most honest persons involved in hair loss (research) nowadays. We must respect the fact that she is both a scientist and an Areata patient herself.

For now we should trust her honesty and hope she will be able to help the Androgenetica patients as well.

        1. I agree with julian about christiano not being honest. Anyone holding the key to a baldness cure is not honest. Like she doesn’t know if jak works for mpb. That was probably the first thing she tested it on. All these researchers are after $$$$. If they were honest and cared about us a cure would have been out years ago.

          1. No, I believe she is honest and has all the interest in developing her work. It only takes time and investors and the bureaucracy is enormous so that’s why it is so slow, unfortunately. But you may rest assured that she will do her best to move forward and bring it out to market asap.

  54. disagree with so-called scientists finding a solution at home.. disagree with the “big pharma, ht doctors, snake oil and wig makers conspiracy” mjones advocates all the time.

Hey jones, how the big horse breeders and horse-wagon industry let the car emerge at their time?

  55. Okay,

Which means Julian DOES believe in conspiracy in case of Christiano, while he states he disagrees with Mjones when it comes to total conspiracy in the entire hair loss industry.

Although I’m optimistic, I am also aware of the pitfalls in science, and aware of the fact that most of them are after our money.

  56. No, where did you get this? I don’t believe in any conspiracy. I drug or treatment or whatever will emerge when it is the right time. PERIOD. And I hope it’s close, off course!!

There is no conspiracy, and even if there was one, it wouldn’t be able to bar a new treatment as long as it is efficacious.

Once there is a better solution, it will prevail… this is the rule, always.

    1. Scientists, real ones, don’t really want money that much, theirs is another kind of motivation. Investors and companies off course want to make money and really don’t like to risk it. But though scientists are not greedy, they do need money, lots of, in order to work in their research and studies until they’re able to come up with a solution, and that involves risk, a lot of, of failing, so it’s really difficult to attract investors. On the other hand, there is all the regulation from the government and health authorities that make all this process even more costly and lengthy. So, that’s the conspiracy:

Christiano needs money to go on to further trials to see if it works in MPB. Investors/big pharma needs strong evidence (convincing data) that it WILL work in MPB as it did in AA to put their money on it.

    2. Julian,

I think our replies crossed, look at the time. 5:03pm was your first message about Christiano and at 5:04pm my message, so I was still typing while you already answered.

No problem at all. Btw, at that time it was midnight in Europe, so my brains were already in hybernation.

  57. We have to keep pushing the topic to Researchers. When will they try all the JAK Inhibitors on male pattern baldness? It is that simple.

Let’s get a cure in 2016. Just need research done on JAK Inhibitors with male pattern bald subjects.

It is either JAK Inhibitors by itself or combined with sun that cures male pattern baldness.

    1. I was expecting some resolution by yesterday, but no go. If nothing today, I will have to delay that post and write on a new subject today.

  58. lets make our clinical trial to see if jak inhibitors work for hair loss, we need an advanced scientist and we are the group of candidates.

      1. Christiano is advanced in hair loss, but there many scientist that are advanced in Jak inhibitors mechanism and their side effects, i think this is enough.

  59. The reason why I said I will get my hair back (start treatment) in November 2016 is to make things happen. If I do not set a date then things drag on and nothing happens. By setting a REALISTIC date it forces me to stay on top of JAK Inhibitors, that I know will regrow hair, and let me come back ASAP.

Someone soon will prove that JAK Inhibitors will work on male pattern baldness. I already found links to similar drugs from 20 years ago that stated a side affect was they grew hair on male pattern baldness. It is out time.

November 2016 it Starts, and I mean it.

I am not going to live another day beyond that without my hair coming back.

  60. A day on hairloss2020:

Nasa: JAK is teh shite im getting a full thick mane in january 2016!! I want to believe:-0

Mjones: the goverment!!! The goverment!! Wear a silver foil hat to prevent further baldness and thoughts being stolen by the hair loss industry.

Fadi: Can I have my pubic hair transplanted on crown?

    Julian: I totally agree

Nasa: JAK!!! I Lets make our own clinical trials and rub eachothers scalps! 2016 teh cure!

JK guys! Spreading a little happiness while we wait! Happy new yrs everyone! Lets keep our fingers crossed for new treatments in 2016:)

  61. Dude NASA far far away in the galaxy.. Bald people are talking about you.. You know what you should take a sign board saying cure baldness and sit in front of Dr Angela Christianos office

  62. Spanky makes fun of my JAK Inhibitor statements but I am sure he will line up to put it on his head when it is proven to work. Scientists toying with these other treatments are slowing everything down.

There is no new treatments coming. JAK Inhibitors are what WILL give us our hair back in 2016. One good scientific test with 10 male pattern bald men will prove that it will work.

I thank Christopher1 for his bold experiment but he probably does not have the right dose or length of time.

November 2016 I get my hair back.

    1. WHO WANTS TO USE JAK INHIBITORS FOR MALE PATTERN BALDNESS WHEN THESE DRUGS ARE STONG AS HELL AND CAN CAUSE SIDE EFFECT? NASA you are lost man… you contradict yourself in every post…. saying that you are SURE its the cure but still need CONFIRMAITON.. which one is it? im not using propecia because of potential side effects.. defo not using even stronger drugs like jak inhibitors

      1. I am not using anything until I know that it works. But, at least a lotion would have much, much less side affects than a Pill.

JAK Inhibitors have worked in the past but not sure if they need to be combined with something else like strong sun shine.

What it will take is an actual experiment with male pattern bald men using JAK Inhibitors in a scientific test – if that ever happens then we might learn if it works by itself and the dosage needed. Nothing can be said in absolute terms until tests are done. Lets just say I very strongly believe it will work. If they would only try it NOW.

      1. Well, I believe that topical JAK in a right dose might HELP (maintance or maybe some marginal regrowth, like 20%), but saying it will give you a FULL HEAD OF HAIR, 100% REGROWTH? Sorry Nasa, you’re deluding yourself.

    1. C’mon nasa isnt bad. He just doesnt want what feels will work to go quietly in the night. He wants change and refuses to let it get off the burner til it happens. He is frustrated and so am I.

    1. I’m just curious:

Has there ever been anybody on the internet satisfied with the ‘results’ of Rogaine of Johnson & Johnson? Because I truely believe I have never seen anybody positive about it, including myself. And I fully understand because its worthless.

How on earth is it possible that Johnson & Johnson only sells crap. Including the pelvic meshes they have spread all over the world, while they knew beforehand that women would be injured / handicapped by it for the rest of their life.

  63. Admin, weren’t you posting a new topic? What happened to that.. Curious to see what it was now that you teased me lol

    1. Yup but some problems. See my last reply to Cris. Might have to delay a post I really wanted to write and replace with something less interesting.

  64. Very interesting but light years away from helping mpb. The fda will require a decade minimum before it allows doctors to manipulate genes to help mpb.

  65. That’s not the point, Tom. The point is this allows researchers to understand all the genes that impact baldness. It is still a mystery. If they can figure out all the involved genes and pathways, they can better devise treatments.

  66. Just went to the doctor for a physical and follow up with my hair. Pretty much told him my hair loss is getting worse. He looked at my head and agreed then said to continue with treatment. He knew there is nothing else he can do. Going to check dht levels and vitanin deficiency. If nothing comes out by next year I am pretty much fked. It’s sooooo upsetting being on propecia for 14 yrs and using it to hold on to what I have in hopes of a better treatment but unfortunately it will be too late when something and if something ever comes out. Medical science is a bitch

  67. It was only a matter of time, MJones. I almost wonder if the treatments really helped you to begin with. You know, hair loss comes in spurts. It’s not gradual. You may stay how you are now for another 4 – 6 years.

  68. In a few words: A new treatment with less side effects than Propecia and Minoxidil is coming in a couple of years. :) Really really nice!.

    Thanks.

    Greetings.

  69. Hey Ddog I doubt my hair will stay like this for 4 to 6 yrs. My hair line is getting destroyed by the month and my healthy left side of my head took a big hit last month. Feels and looks so much thinner. It’s like in overdrive mpb. Ever since I started rogaine things accelerated. Got regrowth in some areas and other areas it thinning out fast . Hair line and temples are just thinning way too fast. Propecia did work, I was shedding tons of hair at age 20, like 30 to 40 in shower and was thinning . Hopped on 1mg and it thickened things back up nicely and maintained for 12 yrs with slight hair loss. 2013 came around and hsir loss picked back up again and hasn’t stopped. Just feeling like shit today, sorry guys for the depressing post:(

  70. Propecia destroys hairline mjones….Don’t worry man…Perhaps in 2017 we have Histogen and Samumed with SM! And Follica hits the market with a new treatment but i don’t sure about that…

    The race started months ago…

  71. Paul Phoenix sorry to disappoint you but nothing will come out in two years that will make any sort of difference. All we hear are delays, shady result pictures and secrecy. Nothing has gotten better in 20 yrs. I just feel like things can only get worse and not better. If you are right and in two years a better drug comes out what good will it do if you are a nw4, 5, 6. Grow some hair that will still make you look like you are balding.. it’s a lose lose situation. These new treatments will be for the early balding new generation. I feel for NASA the most on here. Poor guy will jump off a bridge when jak won’t be released for mpb or revealed as a treatment that will work for mpb. You are better off getting aids at least you can now successfully treat that or even cure if you have magic Johnson money.

    1. Hi Paul I just watched this video and it was even more depressing than how I feel now. Wtf. It mentioned nothing but hair transplants. Our goal is to eliminate transplants dude. You should watch the video before posting it on here and praising Spencer. He said a cure will be here in 5 years back in 2004. Well he 12 years late and wrong.

  72. Hey Paul you know how to read right ? Mjones is saying nothing new will come out in two years and he is not saying nothing new will hit the market for 20+ years. Please when you read be careful and think before you reply

  73. nothing new will hit the market for 20+ years.
You’re insulting everyone who suffers MPB or Androgenetic Alopecia…You are a clown….A new treatment is here and you and mjones know it….hahaha sorry. Take care. Pathetic. Get a new job.

  74. I think Mjones is right. Nothing new will hit the market in time for any of us on this blog. Anything that works is years away and will most likely be a maintainence or small regrowth drug similar to prop without the sides. That is good for future baldies, but we are f*****. And Mjones I really do think propecia kills hairlines. Mine went fast when I started propecia and I barely had a problem in that area before starting. 1 year later and it still hasnt stopped even though I stopped prop. Could be a coincidence, but ive read too many stories saying it does that to not believe it anymore. And its side effects were horrible to me. Lost a nice looking young lady cuz of that crap.

    1. Rancid actually my hair line maintained for 12 years on prooecis. Around the 13th yr my hair line in particular right temple started to lose ground. I added rogaine and it just destroyed it so fast. One year later today my temples have gone up and thinned. Not sure what to do. I stopped applying it on my temples and just add it to my crown and back part of my head. Even that area is thinning now. I hope it’s not an up regulation of androgen due to my heavy lifting at the gym in 2013 mixed with protein isolate. That’s when I noticed the thinning started

      1. Dude, protein supplements have nothing to do with your hair loss. I know you are looking for something to blame besides your genetics, just as everyone does, but that isn’t it. I hate to see you actually worried about that. I used protein and other supplements on a daily basis since I was 13 for athletics. I didn’t start thinning until I was 26. If protein and supplements were really a factor, it would have started much earlier since I am genetically predisposed. Remember, they are finding that each hair actually has a biomarker which programs it to fall out at a certain point in your life. It’s just going to happen at a certain point in your life without intervention if you have the gene.

    2. you lost a nice looking young lady as you went balder. Not that i don’t believe it. But why would you even care or want her for leaving you for a thing beyond your control.

  75. mjones, khourii, Rancidmango, egghead, follicleman….users who suffers MPB and don’t want…or do something to get a new treatment….crowfunding…or something different…Say this: You dont’ want a new treament, you don’t know what is suffer MPB….that’s awesome.. People like you are our enemies. We want a new treatment. Do you understand it? Maybe no…Propecia and Minoxidil is a sh*t. Hair transplants: Pathetic results. PATHETIC HAIR LOSS INDUSTRY.

      1. I’m old and always… listening false hopes. For 25 years listening the same.
I ask you to forgive me…if I’ve been rude.

        Have a good day.

        Paul.

    1. Propecia is good man it saved me for 12 yrs! Can’t throw it under the bus dude. I’m just frustrated that it’s not effective for me as it once was.

  76. There has NEVER been so many companies working seriously on hair loss cures as there is now…something will come out sooner than we think. I know its depressing guys, but it does not help your hair loss to stay as negative and pessimistic as some of you are. And plz….dont give me the “im just being realistic”

    1. Hi Spanky, I aplogiz to you and everyone on this site for being pessimistic and depressing today. It’s just this is thr only place I can let out my emotions. Just having a really shit day. I agree there are many new companies working on treatments for baldness. I just hate waiting longer since I have been treating my hair loss fir 15 years now about. It’s exhausting and we should have had a new treatment by now. I just feel that there is alwa ys a delay or sudden issue with a new treatment to be released. It’s Ike we expect everything that is hyped to fail. Sucks!

Khourli I just turned 34. Why you ask? If you are going to say it’s age related hair losd then I have to disagree. I see 90% of her 30 yrs old out at my gym, club, mall wherever with nw 1 hair. If they have temple recession with no diffuse loss then that is age related losd not recession, diffuse thinning and crown loss like how must of us hsve.

      1. 90 percent is extremely high man. I think you are just easier on other people then you are on yourself. Whenever I am out, I find it remarkable how many people are dealing with hair loss. It is really quite astounding. Seems like almost 90 percent of white guys that I see that are over 40 have a bald spot.

  77. Ive noticed a lot more guys thinning 40 and uo as well. I think some of those guys are guys that came off of propecia just like me. Its not worth the sides. I must say im looking forward to histogen. A product that doesnt have any sides that acrually does something! I know its far from a cure but it is what I am looking forward to for some time now.

    1. I’m afraid histogen may cause cancer. I remember that being a concern. What happened with that? When she mentioned Mexico as a place to get HSC it worried me because their laws are different and if HSC gives you tumors then good luck suing the Mexican clinic. But then again I doubt histogen would release a product that would make us ill. ?

    1. I’m rooting for Histogen as well, even if I have to travel to USA, Canada in 2017. Maybe that 21st Century Cures Act speeds up the release of HSC and other treatment!

      Stay positive

  78. Thats right paul. I hope they fast track an agreement with mexico. How cool would it be to fly there for vacation and get the treatment while there! How great a week is that! If she has the agreement elsewhere I may be less inclined to go due to expense. Hopefully it will be there in mexico within a year from now.

  79. I prefer Canada than mexico. Go to Toronto or Montreal get HSC then hit up the club with full confidence knowing you will get hair back and hook up with some hot Canadian girls

  80. Sorry Paul, but there is nothing that we as a group can do to expedite the process. Its all inthe scscientists and FDA hands now. Spamming people with emails, raising money etc will do nothing. As you said, for 25 years you have heard the same stuff about new treatments. Im pretty damn sure you and a lot of other people back then had the means to “Do” something like you said. It doesnt work. Christiano wont even answer any emails. Now I agree we shouldnt be so pessimistic, but I am not 40 years old with hairloss. I am 24 and up until now I have been decently attractive and attracting women was a simple task. Now all of a sudden in the last 2 years that has changed. In TWO years. Hard not to be pessimistic, especially when you said yourself you have dealt with these “new cures” for 25 years and yet are in the same boat as us.

Ddog – WPI definitely does increase the rate of hair loss. It wont cause it if you arent already prone to it mpb, but it can definitely speed it up if you have it, even studies show that now. And ive taken it off and on since 16, and I have seen the effects. When im on it hairloss increases. When im off, it decreases. I recently switched to soy protein and it has definitely slowed a little at least. Could be in my head, but there are way too many coincidences for me to think that.

Mjones, im not knocking propecia, I believe it works for many, but it doesnt for all of them. There are too many posts on increasing loss like myself, libido issues, brain fog etc. My libido went in the toilet when I was on it, and my hairline flew off my head like it was a bad toupee. I was also using minox on my hairlone for a good 6 months as well though, and that may have contributed. Even so though, the libido issue was enough to kill propecia for me.

    1. I am not buying it about WPI. I have not seen any of that literature.

I agree about Propecia. I experienced side effects very quickly. Shoot, Mjones, you were lucky to be able to use it for so long. You should be thankful.

  81. Yeah guys I def got lucky with propecia..I mean my hair was thinning quickly at age 20. Took propecia at first signs of hsir loss and it stopped it for 12 yrs. The past two years I have been losing ground. I added rogaine foam last Nov 2014 and since adding it my hairline got destroyed and diffuse thinning, right temple looks like shit and left is now following. I think rogaine speed it up but I was losing ground before adding rogaine so I don’t know where I would be now if I didn’t use rogaine . Better? Worse? The same boat but a year from now. Ugggh so confused. I bet I would be a great responder to CB if it was available. Seems like dht blockers are effective fir me. The one thing I can say is that I knew I was going to lose my hair so it wasn’t a shock when it started falling out ar age 20. All the men in my family are Norwood 6 and 7. A few nw 4s but dominately nw 6 and 7. My dad, his dad, my mom brothers, all men on my mom’s side except for her dad. Age related loss but had coverage at 84. Nw4. Damn this curse

  82. The majority of the men in my family have little to no hair loss. I initially came to the conclusion that even if I was prone to hair loss, it would occur during my thirties at earliest and never paid it thought. Well nope. My hair started thinning midway through 23, so it’s obviously a cruel punch nuts how my genes defied the odds. I was finally feeling comfortable and confident with myself after years of dealing with depression and low self-esteem and this just had to come along and shoot me down. It’s like god wants me to be unhappy and neurotic.

  83. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/18/health/alopecia-patients-in-study-grow-hair-with-new-drug.html?_r=0 very old article I am aware. But i see a lot of comments saying that christiano knows and isn’t saying. I’m sure she knows it will cure mpb. If they even make it affordable, the article mentions how a topical needs to be shown before marketing, and phase 2 has been done successfully so far on a girl at yale earlier this month so :) I think its good to keep an open mind about this. Plus i find it interesting universalis and areata both have been fixed by inhibitors. male pattern baldness could also easily be our immune systems attacking the follicles. Yes i believe its genetic and passed down, but that goes hand in hand. my dad passed his shitty genes onto me, just shows people can pass on immune systems that do this.

As for the wait for 5 years I do believe that it will be quicker but not as a market for mob maybe. As the creams been used in phase 2 for areata or universals (can’t quite remember which) then its safe to say you can’t get a prescription for it when it comes out. If it comes out on market for people for those types of baldness I will be getting it topically. Fortunately i suffer from dry skin which has been linked a lot with male pattern baldness, i ironically only get it near my eyebrows, facial hair and head hair. which shows it could be linked to where my immune system sends messages to destroy my head hair. I could easily mention to a doctor I have the skin symptoms and ask for the topical to cure it. Then woohoo i can try it myself regardless.

Don’t be mean if I’ve said something you disagree with, or if i seem to not make sense, its hard to get across things in writing sometimes. Also please stop being mean to nasa. I must say he seems the only guy on the whole thread who seems optimistic about jak. He is annoyingly repetitive but least he means well. I must say i am a very realistic 22 year old male and even I feel, a good instinctual feeling jak inhibitors are the cure. The only real worry is price.

I don’t think companies will try and hide it away. Lets be honest all the companies involved in different means of stopping hairless can take the drug and patent it with something slightly different, then slap their name on it. No one will lose out in the industry really except hair surgeons. But they are outbid.

  84. Ashley, I didnt lose the girl because of my hairloss, at the time it wasn’t really noticeable because I have long hair, maybe 6-7″ all over, so even though my hairline was receding fast, my bangs fell over my forehead and hid everything. I lost the girl because I was on propecia and it killed my libido. After never wanting to have sex, and like 4 times of having sex and going limp halfway through, we kept having fights about how I didn’t want her or wasnt attracted to her blah blah and she left. Thats what made me stop using propecia.

Netshed- in those two years I lost probably 50-55%. Prior to balding my hair was thick as heck and I had to always get it thinned out at the hairdressers. I noticed a little crown thinning one day and a lot of hairs starting falling out in the shower, I I jumped on propecia. Shortly after, the shed increased a lot and never stopped. Then my hairline started to go fast. I went from an NW1 to an NW3V in 2 years. I can’t say it was definitely the propecia that did it, but I dont think id be this far along the balding process if I hadnt taken propecia. Especially because my hairline was ok before starting.

Ashley, I agree that it may not be approved for mpb in for like 5 years, but I am not sure if the dose needed for mpb would match the dose needed for areata. I read somewhere (may have been here) that she said the dosage for mpb would have to much higher than for areata. So if we were prescribed a premade lotion for areata, it may not even be effective for mpb.

    1. The speed in which some of us bald is insane. A lot of people, including me, had very thick hair and a large amount of it compared to others before we started balding.

Then , all of the sudden so much hair is lost, it looks like something turned on/off a switch. I bet even in AGA/MPB, our immunesystem (slowly) attacks the follicles. Scalp continuously inflamed.

Back in the days, I also had to thin my hair out regularly by the hairdresser. People always asked how come I had so much hair. No idea, my immunesystem was probably my friend during that time.

3 years later, they ask why I comb it back, why I have it longer, why I don’t use wax anymore, why I don’t dye the grey ones, why I have bald spots and why I have psoriasis flakes everywhere.
They better ask my enemy, my immunesystem …

  85. I am bit worried about jak inhibitors, as the guy who is expert in that dr brett king is himself bald. I am pretty sure if there was hope he would have tried himself on it. I think it only works for alopecia.

    1. That logic doesn’t make any sense. Dr. Christiano has the cure to alopecia arieta that has been proven to regrow all the hair on your head, but she still wears a wig. She suffers from AA even though she has found the cure. I can’t stand when people say that because a researcher is bald, then it means that their treatment is crap… that is so dumb. It’s not like they sit at home and experiment on themselves. They are out researching and running trials. Stop making assumptions based on the researchers work based off their hair. Appreciate that they are even trying to help you.

  86. Did Elon get SMP to cover his donor scar?
The donor scar is the only downside to an FUT, and even with a trichophytic closure the patient cannot cut their hair short on the sides without the scar be noticeable.

  87. I mean, he’s insanely rich. He can do what he wants. But personally I’d be a little embarrassed to call into a video conference, with the world watching. That hairstyle could not have been on purpose. It wasn’t even a style. It was bed head. But again, when you’re that rich you can walk around with a parrot on your shoulder if you want to. So good for him. Seriously. He’s a genius.

As to his transplants, yeah. He has donor hair. He’s rich. With those two things there’s no reason for someone to be bald. Zero reason. If donor hair isn’t an issue and money isn’t an issue, you got hair.

  88. Haha seriously Admin?? There are literally 100 pictures of Elon’s strip scar, including several pictures with it in plain site from the same set you posted. The guy has had two FUT transplants, and either now wears a piece or got a FUE touch up.

    You can see it through his hair;
    https://sm.mashable.com/mashable_sea/news/e/elon-musk-/elon-musk-is-now-the-fourth-richest-person-in-the-world_3jga.jpg

And here is the scar in the same picture set:
    https://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AARoL9t.img?h=552&w=750&m=6&q=60&u=t&o=f&l=f

  89. I know it’s faster and perhaps cheaper, but with the FUE option, why would anyone (with money) do a FUT? The scars can be covered but it’s not easy to do. An FUE makes more sense to me. Why he didn’t do that from the get go is surprising. With the donor hair and money, schedule an FUE 8 months apart with 3k each time – do four in a row if you need to. 12k would cover a lot.

    1. FUT scars are easier to cover then FUE scars if you want to buzz your hair. SMP and some FUE into the FUT scar will drastically help the appearance. Bad FUE scars will be thousands of raised bumps all over.

Also almost no one has 12k grafts available with 100% FUE, the average person has about 7-8k. If you combine FUT with FUE you can get into the 10k on average.

    2. ^James1
….Elon had 2 FUTS and 1 FUE because he would not have been able to have 3 FUEs unless he wanted to have zero hair remaining in his donor area. Or he may not have had enough donor hair to begin with to pull off more than 1 FUE.

      https://www.coleclinic.com/hair/fue-vs-fut-best-type-hair-transplant/#CandidatesForFUTHairTransplant

      https://www.beverlyhillshr.com/post/fue-vs-fut

      https://www.ishrs-htforum.org/content/28/4/142

Hopefully hair cloning will become a reality within the next decade so that FUT and FUE will become obsolete. I mean would that not be cool. They take a couple of your hairs and clone them, I guess they’d be harvested in some kind of 3D printed tissue, and then they’d punch the cloned hairs into your scalp. But if we get to a point where we can clone hair and successfully transplant it, then we can also find a pharmacological or gene-editing cure.

  90. Who would you rather be; Elon or Elton? I’d choose a scar over a wig any day of the week. Amazing tho that we’re still talking about frigging hair transplants closing in on 2022.

  91. Well, I know someone that had 3 FUEs and he buzzes his hair semi short and I can’t see anything. And two were 2500 and one was 2800 (according to him). Plenty of donor hair left by looking at him, but his sides were (and still are) unusually thick. Lucky. I think everyone is different. Clearly, FUT can’t be that easy to cover because the billion dollar guy we’re talking about here can’t pull it off without it being noticed (super obvious giant scar). But I can see why combining the two procedures may be the way to go for some.

  92. Why doesn’t Elon invest his money into finding a cure for AGA? Surely it’s a personal matter for him.

^Admin. On a different note, can we get a poll for if people take oral minoxidil. I’m curious to know how many people out there are taking it, if they used topical minoxidil first – and if so why they stopped, and if they think oral minoxidil is better than topical.

    1. I always wonder 2 richest men in the world Jeff, and elon who suffer from AGA, surely it would have affected them mentally and they would want to cure this disease when they are have the money and resources.
